Triple Aught Design Titanium Folding Spork

Article By: Ryan

Having eaten more rations then anybody should happily consume I have come to several conclusions. The first of these conclusions is that whomever decides that the flavoured gruel within that silvery package is edible is an evil mean spirited person and the second is some meals just can’t be consumed easily with a spoon. I have had various sets of KFS’s (knife, fork and spoon) as well as sporks and most have left me unsatisfied. I have even jokingly brought chopsticks with me to the field on a challenge. Like most Fridays a few years ago I was looking through my Triple Aught Design email blast letting me know what had been released in store that week and saw this little gem. TAD had released a folding titanium spork that seemed to address most of my issues with the eating utensils that I had previously used.

Grey Ghost Gear Light Weight Assault Pack

Article By: Ryan

The GGG Light Weight Assault Pack is a well built budget pack. Not to say it lacks anything in quality its just a lot cheaper than most the competition. The pack was built for them by Tactical Tailor so its quality you can trust. The TT version of the pack differs by having a bungee cord on the front of the pack to attach other items to your pack. The other difference is the TT version is made of 1000D Cordura and the Grey Ghost one is made of a lighter material. That said the Light Weight Assault Pack quickly became a favorite to carry due to its light weight and pack ability.

Vortex SPARC

Article By: Ryan

I don’t recall where I first saw one of these little units. It may have been at SHOT or on a forum. However when I did see it I was quite intrigued with some of the design features and the price point. Sadly not everyone can afford Elcan Specter Dr’s or Aimpoint T1’s so I figured after hearing some praise on the unit I would give it a try. I have had mine since sometime early on in the summer and it has had a few thousand rounds of .223 through it. Do I think the SPARC (Speed Point Aiming for Rapid Combat) is the be all and end all of optics… No. However I do think it has its purpose its just not on a gun your life depends on. The SPARC makes a great optic for a pistol or rifle your using for plinking or hunting however. I still haven’t replaced it on my VZ-58 which I use fairly often. The following review is from a Police or Military standpoint and not that of a hobbyist. The reason I wrote this article in that method is so that Military and Police members don’t go uninformed into their purchase for an optic that they plan to use at work. If this is something that is going on your fun gun then by all means pick one up they are rugged and work well. Some of my gripes are ones that will effect hobbyists too.

Multitasker Series 2X

Article By: Ryan

I first heard of the Multitasker multitool several years ago and got to handle one at SHOT Show that year. My first thought was that it was a solidly built tool by a new name in the game. The Multitasker has a slew of tools for those of you who run an AR/M4. I don’t have an AR mainly due to the laws regarding their use in Canada however many of the tools on the Multitasker work with my VZ58 which is awesome.

FirstSpear Helmet Covers (Hybrid and Normal)

Article By: Ryan

I was excited to see that FirstSpear had created two different helmet covers for the crowd who own Ops-Core helmets. With the way those helmets are flying off the shelf people are grabbing whatever color they can find in stock. I managed to get a FAST Base Jump in Multicam before these covers were mentioned however I still wanted one. Early in my use of this helmet I was speared in the top of the head with a twig through on of the holes which wouldn’t happen with the cover. I also got the cover to help protect the helmet and for the better laid out Velcro surface. I have both versions of this cover so I will show lots of pictures of each as I go on.
